Students: Stand out by taking part in Regents, Legislature

Two high-profile leadership opportunities are now available to Northern Arizona University students, and both will require some quick action by those who want to be considered.

NAU will provide this year’s new Student Regent, who serves as a full member of the Arizona Board of Regents. Application packets are available online and in the ASNAU and Graduate Student Government office. An information session is scheduled for 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 20 in Ashurst, room A109. Interested students are also encouraged to attend a series of Regents-related meetings from Sept. 21-23. Applications are due Oct. 18.

Students from NAU also are encouraged to apply for the 2012 Arizona Legislative Internship. Selected students will have an opportunity to participate in the state’s legislative process, work in the Governor’s or Supreme Court offices or work in the Legislative Broadcast Center. Applications are due Sept. 28.
