- Recent NAU graduates Gabrielle Delio and Whitney Holeva were invited to write an article in the Public Health Post about the benefits to active transportation. The article is titled “Active Transportation Presents New Opportunities” and details why active transportation, such as walking or riding a bike to and from school, is a potential way for children to introduce more physical activity into their lives.
- At the end of the spring semester, Cline Library hosted “Food for Fines” to benefit Louie’s Cupboard. For every three cans provided to the drive, $25 of late fees was waived. This event brought in close to 700 non-perishable food items for Louie’s Cupboard. Louie’s Cupboard, a student-run organization, aims to provide struggling students and staff with nonperishable food and resources. They hold food distributions on a bi-weekly basis during the semester and have food boxes available during summer upon request. During the 2016-2017 school year, Louie’s Cupboard served more than 250 people. Any student, staff or faculty member that would like to request a food box or support the organization by holding a canned food drive can visit the Louie’s Cupboard website.
