  • Great Value Colleges ranked Northern Arizona University No. 37 in its list of the Top 50 Affordable Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice Online 2018. The ranking was based on tuition value, student to faculty ratio, national recognition for educational excellence and discounted tuition for online students.
  • Meliksah Demir, associate professor of psychological studies, and alumna Alex Tyra have co-authored “Be There For Me and I Will Be There For You: Friendship Maintenance Mediates the Relationship Between Capitalization and Happiness,” which was published in the Journal of Happiness Studies. The article found that individuals engage in routine and strategic behaviors to maintain friendships when they perceive their friends as being responsive to positive event sharing, which contributes to their happiness.
  • Food Management named Sodexo at NAU the College & University Innovator of the Year for the renovation of the du Bois Center. Sodexo was also recognized for developing Simple Servings, a food allergen-free dining option.
  • LendEDU recently ranked Northern Arizona University No. 45 when it comes to small colleges with the least average debt per borrower figures in the entire Southwest. LendEDU analyzed more than 500 schools in the Southwest and all had competitive averages.
  • William (Bill) Pederson, principal lecturer and Northern Arizona University Yuma BASW program director, has been nominated for chair-elect of the Council of Social Work Education Board of Directors. Pederson’s goal while running for board chair is to expand the discussion on social injustices encountered by Latino populations on a national level and find creative solutions.
