  • Alan A. Lew, professor in the Department of Geography, Planning and Recreation, gave a keynote presentation at the Tropical Tourism Outlook Conference, held in Lombok, Indonesia in July. Lew’s presentation “The Four Faces of Resilience and Sustainability” was based on his spring 2015 sabbatical research in Taiwan.
  • Rebecca Campbell, director of NAU’s Academic Transition Programs, was featured on the podcast Teaching in Higher Ed. In episode 62, Campbell discusses mindset, student support and guiding the student learning process. Listen to the full podcast here.
  • Monica Brown, professor of English, will receive an award for Outstanding Literary Arts in Arizona. The presentation will be made Sept. 9 during the annual Higher Education Awards Ceremony in Tempe.
  • James Leve, professor of music, had his textbook American Musical Theater published by Oxford University Press. Leve’s first book, Kander and Ebbk, came out in paperback this summer. He is currently co-editing an essay collection with Donelle Ruwe, professor of English, entitled “Broadway Babies: Children, Childhood, and Musical Theater.” His other projects include writing a monograph on composer Charles Strouse and a full-length study on disability in musical theater.
