- Jennifer Cardoza, class of 2014, was selected as a 2018 Thomas R. Pickering graduate foreign affairs fellow. The fellowship offers students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to pursue a career in U.S. foreign service. Cardoza will complete internships at the U.S. Department of State and an overseas U.S. embassy. She will receive two years of financial support for her master’s degree at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, as well as mentoring and professional development during her fellowship.
- Jeff Meilbeck, CEO of Northern Arizona Intergovernmental Public Transportation Authority (NAIPTA), received the Arizona Transit Association’s Transit Individual of the Year award. Meilbeck has increased the organization from operating with three routes serving 100,000 riders each year to having eight routes serving more than 2 million riders annually. Meilbeck will retire in November as NAIPTA’s first CEO.
- Benjamin Bellorado was selected as the 2018-19 Florence C. and Robert H. Lister Fellowship recipient by the Research Institute at Crow Canyon Archaeological Center. The fellowship supports students working on their dissertation in southwestern archaeology, anthropology or ethnology. Bellorado received his master’s in anthropology from NAU in 2007.
