Northern Arizona University’s Health and Learning Center has gained LEED Gold status from the U.S. Green Building Council, officially designating it as one of the most energy efficient buildings on campus.
The 272,000-square-foot Health and Learning Center, which opened in 2011, integrated the existing 46,000-square-foot recreation center and revamped the 50-year-old Lumberjack Stadium. In addition to the recreation facility, the building hosts Campus Health Services, flexible classroom space, NCAA team athletic facilities and offices. The Health and Learning Center earned the Association of College Unions International Facility Design Award of Excellence in 2012.
