Cindy Brown has been selected to step into the leadership role for NAU’s Office of Public Affairs, replacing Director Tom Bauer, who retires July 31.
Public Affairs spearheads university communication, media relations, news generation, public information and filming requests, emergency management communication and engagement in NAU’s main social media accounts. These functions will be an integral part of the university’s new Office of Strategic Communications, which also includes University Marketing, TV Services and KNAU. The university-wide operation will be led by Carla Andrews-O’Hara, the university’s chief marketing and communication officer, who begins Aug. 3.
Brown, a two-time NAU alumna, has been with Public Affairs for more than five years and its second in command for more than two years. She brought to NAU more than 15 years experience in marketing, communication and outreach efforts in the public and private sector, including internal and external communication, media relations and fundraising.
