  • The women’s cross country team ranked No. 25, breaking into the top-30 for the first time since week six of the 2018 season and No. 3 in the Mountain Region, according to the USTFCCCA poll. They return to the course Oct. 18 for the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin.
  • Men’s cross country athlete Luis Grijalva was named the Big Sky Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week. He placed third in the men’s 8K race with a time of 23-minutes, 58-seconds, helping lead the Lumberjacks to a first-place finish against Stanford.
  • Civil engineering students Jordan Phelps, Jacob Schaniel and Christian Soutus were awarded third place in the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute’s (PCI) Big Beam competition. Participants, which includes students and faculty advisers, were asked to design, build and test at 22-foot, precast concrete beam and then submit a video to PCI for review. The PCI strategic plan calls for developing the programs that produce professionals in engineering fields.

The two athletes tied for first in both total points (3,170) and time in the first 200-meter individual medley (2-minutes, 24-seconds). This marks the first time in 24 years that there has been a tie recorded for first place.
