- Fred DiMicco, executive director of the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, was a featured expert in an article published on WalletHub titled “Chase Sapphire Preferred Review.”
- Ekaterina Malakhova, sophomore on the NAU women’s golf team, earned her first Big Sky Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week award following her career-best performance at the Aggie Invitational.
- Allen Reich, professor in the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, authored the article “Respect: an Ethical Solution to Employee Motivation in the Hospitality Industry,” which was published in HospitalityNet. The article describes a conceptual model that provides the steps required to operationalize the concept of respect, which thereby allows firms to deal more effectively with employee motivation, retention and the current labor shortage.
- Football players RJ Martinez and Morgan Vest both earned the ROOT SPORTS Player of the Week Honors after earning more than 400 yards of total offense and a pair of interceptions against the Idaho State Bengals at the Family Weekend game at the Walkup Skydome.
- Jamie Begay and Melissa Wheeler, students at NAU, received the inaugural Native Americans for Community Action (NACA) Scholarship. NACA created this scholarship in 2021 to award three college students who are pursuing degrees related to public health or behavioral health.
- Stephen Nuño, chair and professor in the Department of Politics and International Affairs, has been selected to be a member of the new editorial team for Political Research Quarterly, a top journal in the political science discipline.
- Dominick Ryan, former graduate student, and Ty Robinson, assistant professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, published a new paper titled “Detecting Oceans on Exoplanets with Phase-Dependent Spectral Principal Component Analysis Their research proposes a new way to possibly detect oceans on potentially Earth-like planets.
- Ryder Strauss, second-year PhD student in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, helped author a new paper “The Sizes and Albedos of Centaurs 2014 YY49 and 2013 NL24 from Stellar Occultation Measurements by RECON.”
- Colin Chandler, Ph.D. student in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, and Chad Trujillo, associate professor in the Department of Astronomy and Planetary Science, authored a paper “Physical Characterization of Main-Belt Comet (248370) 2005 QN173,” which reports new and archival observations of a newly discovered active asteroid.
