A dozen public university and community college leaders have signed a letter explaining the ramifications of Proposition 100, which proposes a temporary 1-cent sales tax increase.

The leaders—which include Northern Arizona University President John Haeger, University of Arizona President Robert Shelton and Arizona State University President Michael Crow—explain how the vote will impact efforts to reshape higher education in Arizona.
A special election will take place Tuesday, May 18.
The letter was sent by Solutions Through Higher Education, a public education effort aimed at raising awareness of role higher education plays in ensuring economic prosperity.
