With another tax season wrapping up, the NAU Human Resources department wants you to be aware of the latest Internal Revenue Service announcements related to tax refund information breaches.

The IRS has reported that identity thieves are busy this tax season, specifically abusing their IP PIN service. As a part of its ongoing security review, the IRS has strengthened their processes and filters this tax season to help detect potential identity theft and refund fraud. The IRS advises taxpayers who have been issued an IP PIN should continue to file their tax returns as they normally would.
