  • NAU athletics director Jim Fallis will be honored with the North Central Conference Honor Award during the NCC Celebration Dinner June 21 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Fallis is one of seven individuals being recognized with the highest honor in the conference, an award given in appreciation of efforts to heighten the integrity of the North Central Conference.Fallis served as the athletics director at the NCC member school University of Northern Colorado from 1993 until 2003. During this time UNC won back-to-back NCAA Division II Championships in football and made the playoffs six times in eight years, including 2002 when the team went undefeated in the NCC and advanced to the national semifinal game. During the same span the UNC volleyball team won the conference championship four times and advanced to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight tournament twice.The award is voted on by the institutional representatives at each of the seven member institutions. This year’s class of seven brings the total number of inductees to 180 members since the award’s beginning in 1967.
  • Ceramics undergraduate James Coquia recently received a $1,000 scholarship from the Arizona Artists Guild based on the quality of his work. He was one of four winners. The guild is hosting an exhibition of winners’ artwork at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts May 15- June 16.
