See the rare transit of Mercury from NAU’s campus on May 9

Mercury

Mercury will pass across the face of the sun Monday, May 9, and the campus community is invited to watch.

The rare event occurs only approximately 13 times per century—the next one is not expected until November 2019.

The Physics and Astronomy Department and the NAU Astronomy Club will have telescopes with solar filters set up from 8-11:42 a.m. on the pedway just north of the University Union.
