Rhythm, music and theater to unite at Japanese drumming performance

The ancient Japanese drumming tradition oftaiko will bring storytelling, humor and an exciting blend of music, theater and dance to Northern Arizona University for a free performance of Fushicho Daiko, or “Phoenix Drummers,” at 4 p.m. Nov. 5 in the du Bois Center Ballroom.

The 2,000-year-old art form combines rhythm, music and theater for an exciting and breathtaking cultural experience.

The performance is sponsored by NAU departments of Asian studies, the Center for International Education, ethnic studies, history, political science, music and women’s studies.
