Program helps furloughed employees with unemployment benefits

NAU has been approved to participate in the Shared Work Program offered by the Arizona Department of Economic Security. The program allows full-time employees to collect unemployment benefits if their wages are reduced because of mandatory furloughs.

To qualify for the program you must:

  • work full time
  • have been employed by NAU for at least six months
  • earned at least $1,500 in the last six months
  • complete and submit the program application prior to taking furlough time

Information sessions will be held from 10–11:30 a.m. and again from 1–2:30 p.m. June 9 in the Fremont Room of the du Bois Center. Representatives from human resources and the Department of Economic Security will be on hand to share information, answer questions and provide applications for the Shared Work Program.
