President Rita Cheng in front of the new LDS temple

As a part of the NAU president’s ongoing listening tour, Rita Cheng, front row left, and her husband, Tom, behind the president, were invited to a VIP luncheon and tour of the new Phoenix Arizona Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Standing next to the Chengs are Flagstaff Mayor Jerry Nabours and his wife, Barbara, and Elder K. Mark Frost and his wife, Mary. Frost, a Flagstaff CPA, holds a regional leadership position with the LDS church.

The 27,000-square-foot temple, on Pinnacle Peak Road in northwest Phoenix, is the fifth LDS temple in Arizona. Temples are open to the public about a month before their dedication.

Eric Yordy, assistant professor in the W.A. Franke College of Business, arranged the visit.
