Parking permits for 2009-10 available online

Parking permits for the 2009-10 academic year are now available online at the Parking Services web site. The site also features a new online service, “Manage My Parking,” where users can avoid lines on campus and purchase a permit, add a vehicle, pay a citation or submit an appeal.

Faculty and staff also can sign up for payroll deduction. The price can be deducted in either five, ten or 19 pay periods.

The university’s budget has prompted an increase to parking permit rates for next fiscal year. For example, an AE permit has increased by $92 to $314 per year, with student rates going to $324. The rate for the parking garage has also increased by $128 to $418 per year, and garage permit-holders will only be authorized to park in the garage to prevent drivers from using two spots on campus, said Erin Stam of Parking Services.

Parking fees are used to pay for shuttle services, parking lot maintenance, motorist assistance, and maintenance and payoff of the central campus garage. A portion also is used for the NAU Police Department.

Faculty, staff and students should purchase their 2009-10 parking permits by Aug. 15. Parking Services will begin mailing permits purchased online in mid-July
