Northern comfort: HRM’s new beds beckon weary guests

mattress gift

The Inn at NAU is offering overnight guests a more comfortable stay.

The Ewing family, who owns the Phoenix Spring Air Mattress company, donated luxury bedding to The Inn earlier this month. Steve and Karen and their son Ryan Ewing are NAU alumni who donated mattresses about a decade ago and wanted to upgrade the beds.

Galen Collins, director of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program, says luxury bedding is popular in the marketplace right now, and the new mattresses have been a hit with guests.

The retail value of the gift is $92,700. The beds cost between $3,000 and $5,000 apiece.
