Nominations being accepted for university awards

The deadlines for nominations for a number of university-sponsored awards are on the horizon, giving an opportunity to recognize important contributions from faculty, staff and students.

The awards, deadlines and links to criteria and nomination forms are:

President’s Award for Faculty and Academic Professionals
Recognizes faculty and academic professionals’ outstanding contributions, achievements and service to the NAU community. Winners will be recognized at the Faculty Awards Reception in April. Deadline: Feb. 27.

President’s Achievement Awards for Service Professionals and Classified Staff
Recognizes employees whose performance exceeds NAU’s expectations, who demonstrate loyalty to NAU’s mission, values and goals and who work with others to create community in the workplace. Recipients receive a one-time cash award of $1,000. The deadline to submit nominations is still being determined.

Commission on the Status of Women Diversity and Equity Awards
The Outstanding Achievement and Contribution Award honors faculty, staff or students and organizations or community members who have made outstanding contributions to women’s leadership development and toward advancing the status of women at Northern Arizona University. Deadline: March 5.

President’s Award for Ethnic Diversity 
Recognizes faculty, staff and students who educate the campus community on ethnic issues, serve as role models for the appreciation of diversity and encourage ethnic diversity in curriculum. Deadline: March 3.

Service Professional Leadership Award
The SPAC Leadership Award recognizes a Service Professional or Classified Staff member for significant leadership contributions, achievements and service to the university or to the community through activities beyond his or her normal responsibilities to the university. The recipient will be recognized at the Service Professional Annual Meeting and Mixer on April 8. Deadline: March 24.

Gold Axe Award and President’s Prize
The Gold Axe Award is presented each semester to select graduating seniors for their exemplary leadership, academic excellence and service to the NAU community. Recipients of the award are also considered for the President’s Prize, deemed the highest student recognition from the university. Applications due March 13.
