New chief audit executive

After a nationwide competitive search, Mark Petterson, audit manager for the Arizona Board of Regents, has been selected as chief audit executive for Northern Arizona University.

Petterson, who begins his new role Aug. 2, will report to Jennus Burton, vice president for Finance and Administration.

“Mark brings more than 29 years of audit experience to NAU,” Burton said. “He has spent the last 15 years working with the ABOR on Arizona university audits and has a necessary understanding of higher education funding in this state. He will be an asset to our team as we work collectively on internal audit initiatives.”

Petterson will direct the operational and administrative duties of the Office of Internal Audit. His responsibilities include establishing a quality assurance program for evaluating departmental performance, developing an audit plan using risk-based methodology and managing policies as identified by ABOR and the university
