NAUPD changes routing of 911 calls

Northern Arizona University has changed the 911 routing for on-campus phones to facilitate more direct communication with the NAU Police Department.

Anyone calling 911 (or 8-911) from an on-campus land line now has the call routed directly to the NAU Police Department. Previously, calls were routed through Flagstaff Police Department back to NAUPD.

The change will allow NAU dispatchers to see what extension the call is coming from, and if the caller hangs up or is disconnected, NAUPD will be able make contact.

Anyone on the Flagstaff campus who calls 911 from a cell phone will have the call routed through Flagstaff PD.
