Jack Edwards joins Northern Arizona University as the new director of Financial Aid, and Michelle Dawson has been selected as the new associate director.

Prior to coming to NAU, Edwards served for six years as associate director of Student Financial Services at Seattle University in Washington. He managed and oversaw all federal, state and institutional aid programs, including Athletics, ROTC and endowed and restricted scholarships. He also supervised all collections activities for the university, including accounts receivables and Federal Perkins and Nursing Loan programs.

Previously, he was the associate bursar at New School University in New York City and worked as the liaison with the Financial Aid Office to assist students in finding resources to help pay their tuition and fees.

Dawson originally is from Prescott Valley but comes to NAU from the University of New Mexico, where she served as a financial aid officer for three years and another three as the financial aid manager.

She began her career in Student Affairs at the University of Arizona, working in both residence life and orientation programs. She continued in residence life as an assistant hall director at Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo., from 1997 to 1998. She completed her master’s degree in public administration in 2005.

There will be a campus welcome reception for Edwards and Dawson from 3 to 5 p.m. on April 13 in the lobby of North Hall (bldg. 5).
