NAU to honor soldiers on Veterans Day

Veterans, soldiers, ROTC cadets, students and civilian volunteers will stand in solidarity next week to honor the American soldiers who have lost their lives in combat in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Northern Arizona University’s Military and Veterans Center will honor Veterans Day with a Remembrance Day Roll Call from 11:55 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 12. The event will be held in the Health and Learning Center’s third floor lounge, located in the northwest corner of the building. The 318 names that have been added to the list over the past year will be read.

The community is invited to visit at any time during Monday’s roll call event.

More than 108 schools from 38 states plus the District of Columbia will simultaneously participate in the Remembrance Day Roll Call, a nationwide effort organized by NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education’s Veterans Knowledge Community.

NAU has again been named a Military Friendly School by GI Jobs, and continues to redefine what it means to be military and veteran friendly.

The university’s veteran student population continues to grow, with more than 1,000 military-affiliated students.
