Northern Arizona University opened a new Visitor and Outreach Center in Prescott Valley last week, demonstrating the university’s ongoing commitment to Yavapai County.

“This community is a critical center of Arizona’s workforce and economy, and we are proud that NAU is an educational partner,” NAU President Rita Cheng said.

Almost 5,000 NAU graduates currently live in Yavapai County, and there are more than 1,000 students from Yavapai County that are enrolled in NAU right now.

“NAU is at the forefront of boundary-free education opportunities, and this welcome center captures our vision,” Cheng said. “We are ready for more students, enhanced degree options and stronger partnerships with this community.”

The center is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 6 p.m. Saturday. In addition to merchandise sales, the center is staffed to provide information on NAU programs and services in Yavapai County, online and at the Flagstaff campus to future Lumberjacks and their parents. Special events at the center will engage alumni, current students and community members.

“Higher education is not just vital to the success of NAU in Flagstaff or in Prescott Valley–it is critical for the economic success of this entire region and our state as a whole,” Cheng said.
