NAU fall commencement calls for celebration

Two graduates during Spring 2016 commencement ceremony

Family and friends will gather to celebrate the accomplishments of more than 2,500 Northern Arizona University graduates during two fall commencement ceremonies Friday, Dec. 16, in the Skydome in Flagstaff.

Jeff Berglund, director of Liberal Studies and professor of English, will serve as the commencement speaker. The ceremonies also will be available to view online.

The schedule is as follows:

10 a.m.

This ceremony is for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students in:

  • The College of Arts and Letters
  • The College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences
  • The College of Education

3 p.m.

This ceremony is for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students in:

  • Extended Campuses
  • The College of Health and Human Services
  • The W.A. Franke College of Business
  • The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences

With the potential for inclement weather, attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate attire and allow plenty of time to travel to and around Flagstaff. Up-to-date road conditions and travel tips are available online from the Arizona Department of Transportation. Monitor the weather forecast through the National Weather Service.

Attendees should anticipate traffic restrictions on South San Francisco Street at University and Pine Knoll, with heavy traffic expected throughout campus the hour before and after each ceremony. To allow commencement traffic to exit the campus, temporary closures will be in effect at McConnell Drive and Lonetree Road. A detailed map is available online.
