The School of Hotel and Restaurant Management welcomed Steve Hart, general manager of the JW Marriott Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, for the unveiling of the J. Willard and Alice S. Marriott Demonstration Kitchen.

The April 12 ceremony recognized the generous contributions from the Marriott Foundation in support of learning and excellence in hospitality education at Northern Arizona University.

After the dedication, guests were given a tour of the facility and were treated to pastries and colorful vegetable-floral displays prepared by HRM students.

The kitchen, which features state-of-the-art equipment, cooking stations and the latest in teaching technology, was supported by a $200,000 grant from the Marriott Foundation, Marriott’s third major contribution since the school was established in 1987.
