  • Graduate students Miranda Perrone, Renee Sanders and Patrick Shin were recognized by the Landscape Conservation Initiative of Northern Arizona University as the 2017 recipients of the Wyss Scholars Program for the Conservation of the American West. These students were chosen for their commitment to the field of conservation and proven leadership qualities. The scholarship awards funding for graduate tuition at NAU, a $5,000 summer internship stipend and post-graduation payments for up to two years while the Wyss Scholars launch their careers in conservation. Each award, valued at more than $40,000, incentivizes applied science and leadership development in the Intermountain West. Aaron Mrotek, who also received the scholarship, was previously highlighted in NAU News.
  • Occupational therapy doctoral student Sabrina Wade was selected to be part of the Summer Institute for Future Scientists in Occupational Therapy, sponsored by the American Occupational Therapy Foundation. This one-day program will match potential student scientists with doctoral and post-doctoral mentors. Students will meet with leading occupational therapy scientists to address topics such as possibilities within OT science, considerations when evaluating potential doctoral programs and career opportunities as a scientist. Wade also will attend the sixth annual Occupational Therapy Summit of Scholars at Boston University on June 2-3.
