It’s time to celebrate as 4,000 Lumberjacks don caps and gowns

Nearly 4,000 Lumberjacks will reach one of life’s milestones when Northern Arizona University confers degrees during four commencement ceremonies set for May 10 and 11 at the Walkup Skydome and one in Yuma on May 17.

As part of the observances, four individuals will be awarded honorary degrees for their continued support of NAU and Arizona education.

Commencement ceremonies are scheduled as follows:

Friday, May 10, 10 a.m.

This ceremony is for bachelor’s students in:

  • The College of Education
  • The College of Social and Behavioral Sciences
  • Extended Campuses

Honorary degree recipient: NAU alumnus Ernest Calderónpresident emeritus of the Arizona Board of Regents

Friday, May 10, 2 p.m.

This ceremony is for bachelor’s students in:

  • The College of Arts and Letters
  • The University College
  • The W.A. Franke College of Business

Honorary degree recipient: Kerry Blume, president and CEO of United Way of Northern Arizona

Saturday, May 11, 10 a.m.

This ceremony is for bachelor’s students in:

  • The College of Engineering, Forestry and Natural Sciences
  • The College of Health and Human Services

Honorary degree recipient: NAU alumnus Paul Keim, director of NAU’s Center for Genetics and Genomics, Regents’ Professor of Biological Sciences and Cowden Endowed Chair in Microbiology

Saturday, May 11, 2 p.m.

This ceremony is for all graduate students.

Honorary degree recipient: NAU alumna Nancie Lindblom, the 2013 Arizona Teacher of the Year

Friday, May 17, 8 p.m.

This ceremony is for graduates at NAU-Yuma and takes place at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Yuma.
