- NAU’s Department of Physician Assistant Studies received $898,779 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to expand the program’s substance use disorder education efforts. The grant will fund direct clinical training between students and NAU’s health partners, including the implementation of the Project ECHO virtual training model, to improve students’ confidence and proficiency when treating individuals with substance use disorders.
- Flagstaff recently became the first city in northern Arizona and the 11th city in the state to earn the Dementia Friendly Community (DFC) designation from Dementia Friendly America (DFA). Students and faculty within NAU’s College of Health and Human Services, College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Office of the Provost and The W. A. Franke College of Business significantly contributed to this initiative by spearheading support services, research groups and advocacy measures centered on the care of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. More than 300 NAU students, faculty and staff members have also completed dementia awareness training through Dementia Friends USA.
- Charn McAllister, an associate professor in the Department of Management, Marketing, and Information Systems Management, was featured on the Love in Action podcast to discuss his research on productive workplace leadership behaviors published in the MIT Sloan Management Review.
