  • Michael Smith, the director for cross country and track and field, was awarded the Chick Hislop Award for the second year in a row, after he led the men’s cross country team to the 2018 NCAA Mountain Regional title. This is the sixth time an NAU coach has received this award since 1998.
  • Anthropology lecturer Shawn Morton wrote a book, “Interdisciplinary Approaches to the Ancient Maya Underworld:  Exploring the rise and fall of Maya centres in central Belize from the cave context,” which Bar Publishing recently published. The book looks at the ancient Maya cave studies and Mesoamerican archaeology.
