    , executive vice president for Northern Arizona University, was named among the state’s 50 highest-ranking women in business in the 2011 edition of Who’s Who in Business magazine. McMahon was listed among the top 10 highest ranking women in the colleges and universities category, and the magazine points to her work “to empower women and encourage them to strive for leadership roles in higher education.”

    Also named in the issue is Cheryl Heitz, director of finance/administration for the NAU Foundation, as the highest ranking woman in the list of the state’s top 10 foundations. Former Arizona Gov. Rose Mofford was selected as the magazine’s Woman of the Year.

  • Zachary Smith, Regents’ Professor of politics and international affairs, and graduate student Michelle Thomas presented their paper, “The Ticking Clock: The Coming Environmental Crisis,” at the Conference on the Policy Challenges of the Great Basin at Boise State University on May 16.
