Outstanding student-athletes honored with Golden Eagle Awards

Golden Eagle Distributors, Inc., honored 169 Northern Arizona University student-athletes on Thursday for their scholastic and athletics accomplishments at the 35th annual Golden Eagle Awards Luncheon.

The ceremony recognizes student-athletes for their significant contributions to the Lumberjacks athletics program while maintaining a minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.

The Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Awards were presented to graduating seniors Jake Hess and Fi Connell.

Hess, a football fullback from Reno, Nev., will graduate with a 3.55 GPA with a degree in psychology.

Connell, a swimmer from Port Macquarie, NSW Australia, will graduate with a 3.78 GPA with a psychology degree and health education minor.

The football program, women’s track and field, soccer and swimming and diving each had over 20 honorees.
