On behalf of NAU Football, I would like to welcome back all our returning students, faculty and staff, and send a special greeting to those joining us for the first time. I can assure you, you’re going to love your experience at Northern Arizona University!

Here’s what you can look forward to as football returns to the Skydome this month:

Traditions

  • True Blue Fridays
In Lumberjack Country, we wear blue on Fridays. I encourage all those on campus, in the community and beyond to proudly wear your navy on Fridays, and blue and gold on game days.
  • Running of the Freshmen
This is my favorite NAU tradition. At the first home game of the season, the newest Lumberjacks paint themselves in blue and gold, dress up in their best NAU garb and run on to the field just ahead of the football team. It’s truly a rush for our students and football players to kick off the season as one.
  • Game Day
Never in the history of the Big Sky Conference has the football competition been so strong. We return a great team led by veterans who are looking not only to improve upon last year’s 8-win season, but to win the Big Sky Conference championship and compete in the National Championship Playoff.

Football

As your hometown team, we need your support. Our first home game of the season is Saturday, Sept. 21, vs. South Dakota. If you are able to be here, we need you. Every person plays a part in supporting our program and our players. From the Lumberyard to the end zones to the bleachers, help fill the Dome, make some noise and give us that home field advantage.

This will be a great year for NAU Athletics. Come out early to get your game day started at FanFest and then cheer on your hometown team. It’s time for college football!

Go Jacks!
