Get your shot now: Flu vaccine clinic open to NAU community

Lumberjacks are encouraged to protect themselves against the influenza virus by taking advantage of flu shots offered by Campus Health Services (CHS). Doing so will also support ongoing COVID-19 mitigation strategies.

The vaccine is a simple, but powerful defense against contracting the flu. It works by introducing an inactivated form of the virus into the body. This allows the immune system to develop antibodies so that a later exposure to the live virus results in lessened severity or complete avoidance of sickness caused by influenza and minimizes hospitalizations.

NAU students and employees, as well as employees’ dependents over age 16 can receive a flu shot from CHS. The cost of the shot is covered by most insurance companies, and is also covered by Louie Care. Individuals should have their insurance card on hand.

CHS will offer flu shots on a drop-in basis during immunization clinics inside the South Gym at the Health and Learning Center (HLC) during the following days and times:

Sept. 25: 9 a.m. to noon

Sept. 30: 10 a.m. to noon

Oct. 6: 2-4 p.m.

Oct. 14: 10 a.m. to noon

Oct. 19: 8-11 a.m.

Oct. 29: 1-3 p.m.

Nov. 5: 2-4 p.m.

Nov. 10: 2-4 p.m.

Individual appointments at CHS can also be scheduled by calling (928) 523-2131 or visiting the CHS website and logging into the patient portal.
