Chorale program dedicated to cancer victims, survivors

The Master Chorale of Flagstaff will present the Arizona premiere of Sing for the Cure: A Proclamation of Hope, dedicated to individuals affected by breast cancer, specifically breast cancer survivors, their families and friends.

The program begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Ardrey Auditorium.

Sing for the Cure is an original song cycle, commissioned on behalf of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. It also includes spoken sections between each choral section with the narrations read by cancer survivors from the Flagstaff community.

Proceeds from ticket sales will support the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which granted more than $425,000 to northern Arizona organizations in 2009. Tickets are available through the Central Ticketing Office at (928) 523-5661 or nau.edu/cto.

“It’s going to be a beautiful experience,” said Master Chorale board president and NAU alumna Katherine Pastor. “What an incredible sight it would be, over 1,400 people coming together to celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have lost their battle with cancer and most of all those who have conquered their battles, forging the way for hope and a future cure.”
