Enjoy a festive stroll along luminaria-lined campus walkways this weekend as a longstanding holiday tradition kicks off the holiday season at NAU.

The Office of Transfer and Commuter Connections will light hundreds of luminarias and provide refreshments beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, at the historic North Quad. This year, the merriment also will include luminarias at the du Bois Center on south campus.

For information, call (928) 523-9330 or email TandCConnections@nau.edu.

Another annual campus tradition further illuminates the holidays when the large tree next to the Blome building on north campus is ceremoniously lit at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, as students from Mortar Board, a service organization of seniors, offer up free hot chocolate, cider and cookies.

The group also will be collecting new and used children’s books for its annual book drive to benefit Hope Cottage.

A showing of The Polar Express follows the ceremony at 7 p.m. in Prochnow Auditorium. Tickets are $3 each or two for $5.
