Call for university award nominations

President's Achievement Awards

The deadlines for nominations for a number of university-sponsored awards are on the horizon, giving an opportunity to recognize important contributions from faculty, staff and students.

The awards, deadlines and links to criteria and nomination forms are:

President’s Achievement Awards for Service Professionals and Classified Staff
Recognizes employees whose performance exceeds NAU’s expectations, who demonstrate loyalty to NAU’s mission, values and goals and who work with others to create community in the workplace. Recipients receive a one-time cash award of $1,000. Any university employee may nominate candidates. This is an individual award and not a group award. Nominations are submitted to University Events, Attn: Sandra Castro, Box 6034 or a form can be emailed to Sandra.Castro@nau.edu. Provost’s Award for Faculty Excellence in Global Learning  and Departmental Excellence in Global Learning
The faculty award recognizes exceptional work in facilitating global learning experiences for students in courses taught at the university. The department award recognizes exceptional work in developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy that infuses global learning throughout the discipline. Nomination information is available here. Nominations are submitted to Liz Grobsmith, interim director for the Center for International Education, at Liz.Grobsmith@nau.edu. Deadline: March 21

President’s Award for Ethnic Diversity
Recognizes the enhancement, effectiveness, impact, uniqueness, longevity, service and commitment of individuals and groups that serve as role models for the appreciation of diversity and encourage ethnic diversity. Provost Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Inquiry and Creativity
Recognizes current undergraduate students and faculty mentors who have demonstrated initiative, productivity, and dedication in contributing to the university community in the areas of research, scholarly, and/or creative activities. These awards will be presented at NAU’s Undergraduate Symposium and Hooper Poster Presentations and Reception in April. Provost Award for Liberal Studies Excellence
Recognizes and rewards sustained instructional excellence by faculty of all ranks teaching liberal studies classes. Faculty may self-nominate or nominate a colleague, and students may nominate a faculty member. Application and nomination information is available here. Nominations can be sent to Liberal.Studies@nau.edu. Deadline: March 22

Research & Creative Activity Award
Recognizes the research, scholarly and artistic achievements of NAU faculty and students. Facilitated by the Office of the Vice President for Research, the award categories include: most promising new scholar, most promising postdoctoral researcher/scholar, most promising graduate student researcher/scholar, research mentorship award, most significant research/scholarly work and most significant artistic/creative work. Commission on Disability Access and Design Leadership Award Recognizes faculty, staff, students, community members or organizations who have made outstanding contributions to the disability community at NAU. Winners must have engaged in one or more activities that promote full and equal access for individuals with disabilities at NAU; promote a campus climate that values individuals with disabilities; support career and professional development opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and/or educate the campus on disability issues that affect university policy, practices and programs. Environmental Caucus Sustainability Awards
Recognizes those who have enhanced the culture of sustainability on the NAU campus and surrounding community. Nomination information is available here. Deadline: February 29

Service Professional Advisory Council Leadership Award
Recognizes a service professional whose contributions to the university and community are deserving of recognition. Applications and nomination information will be available on the SPAC website in March. Questions can be directed to ask-spac@nau.edu. Deadline: mid-April (TBD)

University College Faculty Fellows and UC Associates
The University College is seeking Faculty Fellows and Staff Associates for the upcoming academic year. For questions and to request a nomination form, contact Liane.Sims@nau.edu. Deadline: April 4.

Outstanding Academic Advisor Award Recognizes one Gateway Student Success Center advisor and one College/Extended Campuses advisor. Campus recognition and $1,000 will be awarded to the winner in each category. Nomination information is available here. Outstanding Graduate Teaching Assistant Awards
Recognizes outstanding achievement in teaching by graduate teaching assistants. Faculty and staff who teach or supervise graduate assistants are encouraged to put forward one nomination each year. Nomination information is available here. Deadline: March 2

Student Employee of the Year
Recognizes outstanding student employees who have been nominated by their supervisors. The winners will be recognized during National Student Employment Week, April 10-16.
