Nonfiction author brings stories of science and history to NAU event

Christopher Cokinos

Christopher Cokinos, author of Hope is the Thing with Feathers: A Personal Chronicle of Vanished Birds and The Fallen Sky: An Intimate History of Shooting Stars will share select readings beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, March 28, in room 136 of the Liberal Arts building.

Cokinos is the recipient of a Whiting Award, the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award and the Glasgow Prize and is an associate professor of English at the University of Arizona. He has traveled across the world, from Greenland to Antarctica, in search of stories of science and history that inform his writing. His works have appeared in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times and Science, and his books have been praised or featured in Nature, the Chicago Tribune and on “All Things Considered.”
