  • Jonathan Yellowhair was selected for the Pat Tillman scholarship. Yellowhair graduated from NAU with a degree in Applied Indigenous Studies and  International Affairs. The Pat Tillman Foundation funds military veterans in furthering their education.
  • Archie Amerson, former Northern Arizona University football player, has been selected as one of the 100 divisional candidates for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Amerson won the Walter Payton Award in the 1996 season for being the top rusher in Lumberjack history with 3,196 yards. He scored 25 touchdowns within his rushing record.
  • Peggy Kennedy was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her time in the Women’s Professional Basketball League. In 1984, Kennedy was inducted into the Northern Arizona University Hall of Fame. She finished her Lumberjack career in 1979.
  • Jordan Steele won the North West Emmy in “Weather Anchor,” for his work as a meteorologist for King 5 in Seattle. He also has won the 2011 award for “Best Weathercast” presented by the Associated Press. Steele graduated from NAU in 2008 with a degree in communications.
